Rapper Trae tha Truth Takes Autistic Student Who Was Attacked By Classmate On A Fun-Filled Day

Back on Jan. 25, school cameras caught an 11-year old student with special needs getting attacked by another autistic student while Aldine ISD aides didn’t do much to stop it.

Sekai, who is a 6th grader at Marine Jones Middle School in Aldine, can be seen getting pushed around in the school hallway. There were three aides present.

Sekai’s grandmother, Veda Cavitt was furious and demanded action after seeing the video of her non-verbal, special-needs grandson being punched and kicked repeatedly.

Cavitt said she took custody of Sekai after his parents died when he was a baby. She said she’s now his advocate because he has the intellectual ability of a 4- to 5-year-old.

“He is lovable. He is so affectionate. He loves giving hugs and… just passionate, very, very affectionate,” Cavitt said.

The three aides were eventually fired.

Cavitt mentioned that her grandson’s spirit had been down since the incident, but after the video was shared with Trae tha Truth, things turned around.

The Houston rapper and activist was able to connect with the family and take Sekai on a fun-filled day that involved shopping and a trip to his ice cream shop.

Trae and his partner Roderick Batson opened Howdy Homemade Ice Cream in Katy back in July 2021 as a place of employment for individuals with special needs.

As a father of a child with a disability, Trae said he took Sekai’s story personally and he would lose his mind if it happened to his child.

In an Instagram post, Trae said Sekai now has a “different type of happy energy.” 💙
