‘Raising Dion’ Canceled After Two Seasons On Netflix
Raising Dion, which in our eyes was one of Netflix’s most popular shows, has been canceled. Despite the show having two successful seasons and climbing to the No. 1 spot, the series is coming to an end.
Cast member Sammi Haney shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram.
“Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELED š³š¢ Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans! Season 2 was a success, equal to Season 1, even if just looking at how many people watched all of it and wanted a season 3!”
Sammi then added, “The only āsilver liningā is that this does free me up to pursue other roles. My Netflix contract kept me from accepting other major roles offered to me (1 actually written with me in mind) on other tv shows! So if you work for a major studio, hit me up again, Iām ready!”
Sammi isn’t letting this setback stop her journey.
Raising Dion first premiered on Netflix in 2019, with Season 2 of the show launching in February 2022. It followed the story of Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her young son (JaāSiah Young), who developed supernatural powers. He received the gift from his father Mark (Michael B. Jordan), who was *spoiler alert* killed shortly after Dion was born.
Michael B. was also an executive producer of the show.
The show was based on the comic book of the same name by Dennis Liu.
Netflix has been canceling shows left and right. It was recently reported that the streaming service lost over 200,000 subscribers and are initiated ads on their service indicating that their in financial trouble.
No word on if Raising Dion will be picked up by another network. If so, we’ll let y’all know.
