Queen Latifah to Host 2026 American Music Awards in Major Return to Stage

Queen Latifah is set to return to one of music’s biggest nights, as she has been officially announced as the host of the American Music Awards in 2026.

The Grammy- and Emmy-winning entertainer will take the stage for the 52nd annual ceremony, scheduled for May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

This marks Latifah’s first time hosting the AMAs in more than three decades. She previously co-hosted the ceremony in 1995, making her return a full-circle moment in her decades-long career in music and entertainment.

In a statement, Latifah expressed excitement about stepping back into the role, calling it the perfect opportunity to celebrate a standout year in music. Organizers also praised her as a “powerhouse and trailblazer,” noting her deep connection with both fans and artists.

The upcoming ceremony follows the 2025 show, which was hosted by Jennifer Lopez and marked the awards’ return to Las Vegas.

Nominations for the 2026 AMAs are set to be announced on April 14, with fan voting opening the same day and continuing through early May. Additional details about performers and presenters are expected in the coming weeks.

With her legacy spanning hip-hop, film, and television, Latifah’s return as host is expected to bring both star power and nostalgia to one of the music industry’s most anticipated nights.
