Queen Latifah and Taraji P. Henson Partner With Lifetime to Produce New Original Movies

Black Girl Magic is making major moves behind the scenes in Hollywood. ✨🎬

Two of the entertainment industry’s most influential women —Queen Latifah and Taraji P. Henson—have officially partnered with the Lifetime network to executive produce a slate of new original films through their respective production companies.

Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment and Henson’s TPH Entertainment will both develop new female-driven movies as part of Lifetime’s expanding lineup of creative partners.

Expanding Lifetime’s Original Movie Slate

The partnership is part of Lifetime’s ongoing effort to grow its catalog of original films and collaborate with major creatives in the industry.

The network recently announced new movie deals with both Latifah and Henson, bringing their producing power to a platform already known for spotlighting women-centered storytelling.

Latifah will executive produce three new Lifetime original films alongside her longtime producing partner Shakim Compere through Flavor Unit Entertainment. The projects mark another chapter in her longstanding relationship with the network, where she has previously produced and starred in several films focused on powerful women’s stories.

Meanwhile, Henson will executive produce two original films through TPH Entertainment in partnership with Fox Entertainment Studios, continuing to expand her producing footprint in television and film.

Lifetime Experiments With New Storytelling Formats

In addition to the new film deals, Lifetime also revealed plans to explore a new digital format designed for mobile viewers.

Actor Taye Diggs will executive produce “Tides of Temptation,” a premium microdrama created specifically for vertical viewing on smartphones.

The short-form series will act as a digital companion to Lifetime’s upcoming film “Terry McMillan Presents: Paradise with You,” based on work from bestselling author Terry McMillan.

The move into microdramas signals the network’s attempt to reach modern audiences who increasingly consume content on mobile devices.

More Black Hollywood Talent Joining Lifetime

Latifah and Henson join a growing list of Black creatives collaborating with Lifetime, including music legends turned producers Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton.

Another powerful example of Black women making major moves behind the scenes in Hollywood comes from actress and producer Vivica A. Fox, who has quietly built one of the most successful partnerships with the Lifetime Movie Network.

Fox has produced and starred in more than 29 films for LMN, largely through her wildly popular thriller series known as “The Wrong” franchise.

The network also announced that comedian and talk show host Sherri Shepherd will star in and executive produce “Angel in the Rubble.”

The film is based on the bestselling book “Angel in the Rubble: The Miraculous Rescue of 9/11’s Last Survivor,” which tells the powerful true story of Genelle Guzman —  a New York City transit worker who survived being trapped beneath the rubble of the World Trade Center for 27 hours during the September 11 attacks.

A Powerful Moment for Black Women in Hollywood

The collaboration between Queen Latifah and Taraji P. Henson represents another significant step in Black women shaping their own narratives in Hollywood — not just in front of the camera, but behind it as well.

With multiple new projects already in development, fans are eager to see what stories these two icons will bring to the screen next.

Major moves for two legends — and we can’t wait to watch. 🎥✨
