Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Robertson family and star of the reality television series Duck Dynasty, has passed away at the age of 79. His daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, announced his death on May 25, 2025, via Facebook. The family had previously disclosed in December 2024 that Robertson had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
In their own joint Instagram post, son Willie Robertson and his wife Korie Robertson, wrote, “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.”
Robertson was born on April 24, 1946, in Vivian, Louisiana. He gained national fame as the founder of Duck Commander, a company specializing in duck calls, and as the star of Duck Dynasty, which aired on A&E from 2012 to 2017. The show chronicled the lives of the Robertson family and their duck-hunting business, blending humor with strong Christian values.

In her announcement, Korie Robertson expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers, highlighting Robertson’s strong Christian faith and the impact he had on many lives through his testimony and message of grace. She also mentioned that while the family is currently holding a private service, plans for a public celebration of his life will be shared in the near future.
Robertson’s death marks the end of an era for fans of the show and those who admired his personal and professional journey.
Duck Dynasty aired on A&E and followed members of the Robertson family — including Phil and his wife Kay Robertson, alongside three of their sons, Jase, Willie and Jep, plus several grandchildren and a few of their employees as they worked together at their family business, Duck Commander.

The series ended in 2017 after 11 seasons, though it spawned various spinoffs, including Going Si-Ral, Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty, At Home with the Robertsons and Duck Family Treasure. A&E announced in January that the show would return to the network as Duck Dynasty: The Revival.
