Pharrell Williams Announces He’s Opening A Resort In The Bahamas

Pharrell Williams is making some serious money moves in 2022.

The music producer-artist shared that he will be opening a resort in the Bahamas with Miami-based hospitality and nightlife entrepreneur David Grutman.

Somewhere Else Resort will be a part of the world-famous Atlantis Paradise Island. It will house approximately 400 rooms and suites, multiple restaurants and bars, and bungalows with recording studios — with an emphasis on indoor-outdoor flows with lush, freeform landscaping.

The “Happy” singer said in a joint exclusive interview with David that the concept of “tropical modernism” is being reimagined for this new space, hinting at a more contemporary feel.

According to CNN, Somewhere Else will be anchored by a flamingo pink-trimmed building which, until now, has been known as The Beach. The Beach sits on a quiet corner of Atlantis Paradise Island and is getting a head-to-toe redo.

The resort will not fall in the affordable range for tourists but it will not be priced in the highest luxury bracket either.

This isn’t the only business deal Pharrell has going on. It was also recently announced that he joined forces in a $620 million round one investment with online security firm 1Password.

According to Music Business Worldwide, Justin Timberlake, Trevor Noah, plus Hollywood stars like Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Matthew McConaughey and Chris Evans are investing as well.

1Password says that the round is the largest raised by a Canadian company, and they will use this additional capital “to develop and scale human-centric security solutions”.

Somewhere Else Resort is slated to open January of 2024.
