Parents of Teen Who Died From Free Fall Ride Sues Park
Well, we saw this coming. The parents of a 14-year old who died after falling from a Florida park ride is suing for wrongful death.
Parents Nekia Dodd and Yarnell Sampson stated in the lawsuit that their son Tyre Sampson shouldn’t have been allowed to get on the Orlando Free Fall ride.
The suit was filed by their attorneys Michael Haggard — the managing partner of Harrard Law Firm — and Ben Crump — civil rights activist.
The lawsuit is against ICON Park and its pertinent associates, including the creators and operators of the free-fall ride itself, claiming negligence … among other counts.
According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Sampson’s parents allege the attraction in question had certain height and weight restrictions that their son was in clear violation of … and which should’ve been addressed either via signage or from the staff itself on site.
The parents claim none of this was brought up, and Tyre got on the ride thinking there wasn’t a problem. They also claimed the ride itself wasn’t safe. No seat belts were on the ride, which could have prevented him from slipping and falling.
The incident occurred back in March when Tyre visited the Florida park with friends during his spring break. The teen plummeted about 100 feet to the ground and later died from his injuries.
