Actor and rapper Marvin “Krondon” Jones III has been cast as the villain Lonnie Lincoln, better known as Tombstone, in Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is slated to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
Jones is no stranger to the role. He previously voiced Tombstone in the Oscar-winning animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and will reprise the voice role in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. His live-action debut as the character marks a rare crossover from animation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Los Angeles native has built an impressive career portraying complex antagonists. He is widely recognized for his performance as Tobias Whale in The CW’s Black Lightning and has appeared in Halo, All American: Homecoming, The Equalizer, and the upcoming action film Shadow Force.
In Marvel Comics, Tombstone is a notorious crime boss with superhuman strength, razor-sharp teeth, and hardened, stone-like skin. His appearance, shaped by albinism, has long been a defining characteristic in print and on screen. Known for his ruthless control of New York’s criminal underworld, Tombstone brings a grounded, street-level menace to Spider-Man’s roster of foes.
Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently on hold after star Tom Holland suffered a mild concussion during filming, though the pause is expected to be temporary.
With Jones stepping into the role, fans can expect a fresh yet familiar take on one of Spider-Man’s most formidable adversaries. His casting underscores Marvel’s commitment to blending its animated successes with live-action storytelling, while further expanding the Spider-Man mythos within the MCU.
