Martin Lawrence Set to Receive Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame
This is long overdue but it’s finally happening! Superstar comedian and actor Martin Lawrence will be receiving his own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce shared details of the news on social media.
Ana Martinez, the Vice President of the chamber, also posted about the news. “Comedian Martin Lawrence to be honored with star on the Walk of Fame on April 20th! #walkoffame”
On June 17, 2022, Martin gave everyone the heads up about his upcoming honor.
Lawrence got his start and made a name for himself when he appeared at a New York club called “The Improv.”
Later in 1987, the funny man won a performance spot on variety show, Star Search and later started his career by landing a guest spot on the TV show “What’s Happening Now.”
With his rising career, Lawrence made a breakthrough in films like Do The Right Thing, House Party, Talkin Dirty After Dark, and Boomerang. The comedy icon also hosted HBO’s popular series Def Comedy Jam. Many hilarious moments on Russell Simmons’s DCJ included other comedians like DL Hughley, Chris Tucker, Cedric The Entertainer, Dave Chappelle, Bernie Mac, and Monique.
While hosting the show, Lawrence launched his own sitcom for Fox, entitled Martin, which ran for 5 seasons in the mid 90’s. Lawrence received lifelong achievement in television, as well as film. His movie credits include Bad Boys franchise, Nothing To Lose, Life, Big Momma’s House, Wild Hogs, Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, and so many other classics.
Martin Lawrence ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 20th at 11:30 a.m., located at 6617 Hollywood Blvd. Guest speakers will include Steve Harvey, and his Thin Line Between Love and Hate co-star Lynn Whitfield.
He will be obtaining the 2,753rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and it will be in the Television category. Congratulations, Martin!
