Los Angeles, CA— Rob Reiner, the acclaimed Hollywood director and actor known for classics such as When Harry Met Sally…, The Princess Bride and A Few Good Men, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead Sunday afternoon in their Brentwood residence in Los Angeles in what authorities are investigating as a double homicide.
Emergency crews, including the Los Angeles Fire Department, responded to a medical aid call at approximately 3:30 p.m. on December 14 in the 200 block of Chadbourne Avenue. Upon arrival, first responders discovered two deceased individuals inside the home. The victims were later identified as 78-year-old Rob Reiner and 68-year-old Michele Singer Reiner.
According to multiple sources familiar with the investigation, both Reiner and his wife suffered fatal stab wounds. Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division are treating the deaths as a suspected homicide.
In an extraordinary and devastating development, law enforcement sources and multiple media outlets report that the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, has been identified as the alleged perpetrator of the attack. As of Monday evening, authorities had not released additional details regarding his status — whether he is in custody, at large, or deceased — and official police statements have not publicly confirmed charges or an arrest.
The couple’s daughter reportedly discovered the bodies, triggering the response by emergency services.
