Jonathan Owens Signs with Colts, Simone Biles Celebrates Husband’s New Chapter

The Indianapolis Colts have officially signed veteran safety Jonathan Owens, adding depth and experience to their secondary ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

Owens, who is widely recognized both for his NFL career and as the husband of Olympic gymnastics icon Simone Biles, joins Indianapolis after spending the past two seasons with the Chicago Bears. The 30-year-old defensive back enters his eighth NFL season, having previously played for the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers.

According to the team, Owens has appeared in 82 career games with 35 starts, recording 295 tackles, two interceptions, and multiple impact plays on both defense and special teams. His versatility—particularly his heavy involvement in special teams—was a key factor in the Colts’ decision to bring him on board.

The move comes shortly after Owens entered free agency, with reports indicating he agreed to a one-year deal with Indianapolis, though financial terms were not disclosed.

Off the field, the signing marks a major life change for Owens and Biles, who are now preparing to relocate to Indianapolis. Biles shared her excitement on social media, expressing pride in her husband and enthusiasm for the couple’s next chapter, writing in part, “Indy, here we come.”

Owens also acknowledged the transition, posting about “new beginnings” as he looks ahead to contributing to a Colts team aiming to strengthen its defense heading into the upcoming season.

With his experience and special teams impact, the Colts are hoping Owens can provide immediate depth and leadership as they continue to reshape their roster for 2026.
