Jeff Bezos, Oprah Winfrey, And Dolly Parton Donate Millions Of Dollars For Coronavirus Relief Efforts And Cure Research
The milionaires are really stepping up when it comes to helping our during the coronavirus pandemic.
Jeff Bezos, Oprah Winfrey, and Dolly Parton are just a few that has dug deep inside their pockets.
Bezos is donating $100 million to Feeding America, a nonprofit that helps food banks feed families in need.
The Amazon founder and CEO posted about the donation on his Instagram account Thursday afternoon, citing the spread of the coronavirus the reason he chose to make the donation.
According to Business Insider, Bezos and Amazon have been working behind the scenes during the pandemic, including holding talks with the World Health Organization, providing IT support, and offering to deliver COVID-19 test kits in the UK. Amazon, along with Microsoft, donated $1 million to a Seattle-based fund for coronavirus response, and Amazon set up a $25 million relief fund for its independent delivery drivers and seasonal employees.
Before Bezos revealed his donation, television mogul Oprah Winfrey announced earlier today that she will donate $10 million to coronavirus relief efforts.
In an Instagram post, Winfrey said “I was struck by the work these organizations are doing and while everyone’s priority right now is to stay safer at home, I know there are many of us looking for ways to help.”
Yesterday, country singing sensation Dolly Parton announced her generous $1 Million donation on Instagram.
After finding out researchers were closer to finding a cure, she dug deep into her pockets.
Many celebrities are donating. Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation has donated $5 Million and personal protective gear. Jay-Z‘s Shawn Carter Foundation matched one of her donations with $1 Million.
Former Real Housewives of New York star and liquor entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel has donated over 1 million masks to hospitals, and Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively wrote a $1 million check to support food banks in America and Canada.
