He’s Freeeeeeeeee!!! Troubled Ex Football Hero Is Granted Parole After Nine Years.

Breaking news y’all! The day has finally come that OJ Simpson can yell from the mountain top “I am LOOSE!!!” Well technically he won’t be able to say this until October. Today Orenthal was finally granted parole after serving 9 years in prison for stealing his own merchandise. The fallen ex football hero was happier than a rooster in a hen house when he learned the fate of his future. Needless to say, some of the nay sayers are kinda salty about Simpson being granted his freedom, but I am tickled pink about his release date.

Here’s how it all went down today.

USA Today

“O.J. Simpson mouthed the same words he did more than two decades ago: “Thank you.”

Simpson expressed his gratitude, this time around, immediately after Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners chair Connie Bisbee cast the fourth and deciding vote in Carson City on Thursday to grant his release as soon as October 1.

No tears appeared, but his face — albeit showing signs of age — revealed the same expression of gratitude mixed with relief that he displayed when he was found not guilty of double-murder charges in October 1995.

Understandably, it was the most emotion shown during Thursday’s hearing as Simpson spoke via teleconference from the Lovelock Correctional Center, located about about 100 miles from Carson City.

Moments after the decision, Simpson walked gingerly down a hallway that led back to the prison where he could spend as few as 10 more weeks.

“Oh! God! Oh!” Simpson exclaimed as a steel door with horizontal bars in the window closed behind him.

Simpson was contrite, to a point, during the hearing.

He rambled as he explained the events surrounding the 2007 robbery of memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas. He was found guilty in 2008 on 12 counts, including robbery and kidnapping, and was sentenced to a minimum of nine years and maximum of 33 years in prison.

“I had drinks on that day, but it was a wedding celebration,” Simpson said.

Famed defense attorney Barry Slotnick told USA TODAY Sports he’d had advised Simpson to take more responsibility.

“The parole board wanted to see him say, ‘I’m sorry. I’m sad,” Slotnick said.

There were a couple of moments of levity, including when Bisbee misstated Simpson’s age early in the hearing.

“We have you as male, and we have that you very recently turned 90 years old,” Bisbee said. “I’m sorry about that. You look great for 90!”

Simpson quipped: “Feels like it, though.””

Awwww. I reckon he does feel like he’s 90 years old right about now. This dude has been through quite a bit in the last couple of decades. I happen to be one of the many folk who thinks he was rightfully acquitted in the death of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman’s. Hopefully he will be able to start living his life prosperously at the ripe young age of 70 years old (don’t he look good y’all?) and do some reality tv.

Congrats OJ!
