Halle Bailey, the acclaimed singer and actress renowned for her roles in The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple, has secured a temporary domestic violence restraining order against her former partner, rapper and YouTuber DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.). The order, issued by a Los Angeles court on May 13, 2025, follows Bailey’s allegations of multiple instances of physical and emotional abuse after their separation in October 2024.
Allegations of Abuse
In court documents obtained by TMZ, Bailey detailed a series of disturbing incidents. The first occurred in January 2025 during a custody exchange involving their son, Halo. Bailey alleges that DDG became agitated when she attempted to discuss visitation arrangements. As she was securing their infant into a car seat, DDG reportedly yelled, “Get out of my car, b*tch,” before pulling her hair and slamming her face into the steering wheel, resulting in a chipped tooth and bruises on her arm. Bailey provided photographic evidence of these injuries in her restraining order request.

Subsequent incidents include DDG allegedly entering Bailey’s home without permission in March, taking a photo of her bed, and sending it to her with the message, “now I know what u been on lol,” which she interpreted as an accusation of infidelity. In another confrontation, DDG is accused of destroying her Ring camera, taking her phone, and throwing it out of his car window while shouting, “Go get it, b*tch.” Bailey filed a police report and claims to have Ring footage supporting her account.
The most recent incident reportedly occurred over Mother’s Day weekend when DDG accused Bailey of being in St. Lucia with another man, despite her being on vacation with her sister and son. Bailey responded, “not with any man out here. i wouldn’t do that, i have halo … please let me enjoy my mother’s day in peace.”
Court’s Protective Measures
The restraining order mandates that DDG stay at least 100 yards away from both Bailey and their son, prohibits him from possessing firearms, and forbids any form of contact or abuse. Additionally, the court granted Bailey permission to take Halo with her to Italy for a two-month film shoot.
Background and Public Reactions
Bailey and DDG welcomed their son, Halo, in December 2023 and announced their separation in October 2024. In November 2024, Bailey publicly criticized DDG for livestreaming with their son without her consent, expressing her discomfort and emphasizing the importance of boundaries.
As of now, DDG has not publicly responded to the restraining order or the allegations; however, there is a video of him showing his reaction after receiving the news.
