“Friday” Actor Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister Found Dead At 62
Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister, who is famously known for playing the role Deebo in the Friday franchise films has died. He was 62 years old.
According to PEOPLE, a friend found the actor unconscious in his Marina Del Rey apartment after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
While he had not tested positive for the novel coronavirus prior to his death, Lister died on Thursday after exhibiting “COVID symptoms” for a week, his manager Cindy Cowan tells PEOPLE.
Tiny was scheduled to work on a movie over the weekend, but had canceled on Friday, according to Cindy.
“He was just really complaining, but he was too weak to go to the doctor,” she say.
Law enforcement told TMZ that he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Although Tiny was known for his “tough guy” and “bullying” roles, many who knew him said he was a “gentle giant.”
Along with Friday, the 6’5″ actor played in other films such as The Fifth Element, The Dark Knight, and Zootopia.
Tiny also participated in some pro wrestling acts, alongside Hulk Hogan.
He recently started a clothing line called “Big Tiny Debo.”
Tiny recently ran into former co-star Chris Tucker and the reunion was epic!
Friday creator Ice Cube posted a tribute on his page.
“RIP Tiny “Deebo” Lister. America’s favorite bully was a born entertainer who would pop into character at the drop of a hat terrifying people on and off camera. Followed by a big smile and laugh. Thank you for being a good dude at heart. I miss you already.”
Sending condolences to Tiny’s family and friends.
