Former NBA Star, Shawn Kemp, Arrested In Washington After An Alleged Drive-By Shooting
Former NBA Star, Shawn Kemp, was arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred in Washington on Wednesday. Online records for Pierce County show that Kemp, 53, was booked on a felony drive-by-shooting charge.
According to ESPN, police said there was an altercation between occupants of two vehicles near Tacoma Mall, which led to shots being fired. No injuries have been reported and one of the cars fled the scene. A gun was recovered, and an investigation is ongoing.
Kemp, a six-time NBA All-Star, played 14 seasons in the league from 1989 to 2003. He was most notably known for playing with the Seattle Supersonics. The Indiana native was one of few players at the time who was drafted without playing in college. Kemp also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Orlando Magic. He averaged 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game in his career.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Kemp has ran into some trouble with law enforcement. TMZ reports that he was previously arrested on two drug-related incidents in 2005 and 2006.
This is still a developing story. We will keep you all updated as more information is released regarding this case.
