A Florida woman who initially said that two black men abducted her son, confessed that she actually killed the 9-year old by pushing him into a canal where he drowned — and it was all caught on surveillance video.
Patricia Ripley reportedly told police that two black men abducted her son Alejandro Ripley last week but the police found inconsistencies in her story.
According to a Miami-Dade County police report, Ripely allegedly told police that while she was driving with her son on Thursday evening, she was ambushed by two black men, one armed with a knife, who demanded drugs.
“After stating she didn’t have any drugs, he then stole her cellular phone and abducted her son, fleeing southbound in the unknown vehicle,” according to the police report.
The story she told authorities was completely FALSE, and is understandably causing anger within the black community.
She reportedly recanted those tales and admitted killing her son late Friday night, telling detectives that she had led him to the canal where he drowned, and that ‘He’s going to be in a better place.’
The truth was also revealed on a nearby surveillance camera, showing the first attempt Ripely pushed her own child into a canal. A good samaritan came to rescue the Alejandro.
On the second attempt, reports say that she sat in her car for about 20 minutes before dialing for help.
According to reports, this was actually the second time she attempted to kill her son.
In the first incident, neighbors heard the young boy screaming, someone went to his aid and saved him. Police say that an hour later, Patricia took him to a different canal and completed the task of killing him.
Ripley is being held without bail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree premeditated murder, and first-degree murder. She is facing life in prison without parole or she could be sentenced to death.
