As we all know, many recording artist have been financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Clubs, concerts, festivals have been shut down — and tours have been canceled, which is a big chunk of the artists’ revenue.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his team announced a few days ago that the platform is now set to provide a new way for performers to earn money.

“To support creators and small businesses, we plan to add the ability for Pages to charge for access to events with Live videos on Facebook — anything from online performances to classes to professional conferences.”
The Grammy award-winning singer read the news and posted a simple reaction, saying “Catch me if you can…,” and it rubbed one Twitter user the wrong way.
“You’re happy you can charge, but 30 million of us have filed for unemployment. So…I mean, I guess Auntie. Do your thing.”
Ms. Badu’s response:

“I’m unemployed too. I’m just not bitchin about it. I created a way for my folks. But if you’d rather give your money to iTunes for my music keep in mind we only get fkn pennies. And yes I am happy…Broke or rich.”
Although some entertainers are paid on a bigger scale, it doesn’t mean they’re not affected.

According to some users, Erykah has already taken advantage of this new feature, and has charged viewers as low as $1.

She’s scheduled to go Live with Grammy award-winning artist Jill Scott for a Verzuz battle on Instagram May 9.
No word yet on if there be a fee.
