Donald Trump Succeeds In Getting Chrisette Michelle To Perform At Inauguration, And Black Social Media Is Letting Her HAVE IT!
President-Elect Donald Trump and his crew are fiercely gathering entertainers up to attend the highly anticipated Inauguration which happens tomorrow. Many celebrities aren’t trying to be anywhere near DT for obvious reasons, but some are performing at the gala anyway. Yesterday we posted a story about Gospel artist Travis Greene signing on to sing one of his hit singles, and now we have word that another one of our peeps will be displaying talent.
Singer Chrisette Michelle will be performing tomorrow for Donald Trump and the rest of his supporters. And let’s just say that the black community is fairly disappointed in Miss Chrisette because of her history of being so pro black. Everyone is calling her a traitor, a singing negro, and someone who would do anything for money.
Chrisette took to social media and relayed her feelings to the people who have lost faith in her and who think she’s making a big mistake performing for the future president.
“”My heart is broken for our country, for the hopes of our children, for the fights of those who came before us.
I cry at the thought that Black History, American History might be in vain.
This country has had great moments. God has shined His light upon us.
Today, I hope that Great Moments begin in peaceful & progressive conversation. I am willing to be a bridge. I don’t mind “These Stones”, if they allow me to be a voice for the voiceless.
I am here.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about what matters,”. I am here, representing you, because this is what matters.” – Chrisette Michele
To make things even more interesting, The Roots drummer and celebrity DJ Quest Love even volunteered to pay Chrisette NOT to sing. Quest probably can afford it because he’s worth $16 million. However, our lil songbird has said she’s not performing at the Inauguration because of a fee. She’s doing it to being the world closer together.
And then we have movie-directing legend Spike Lee who expressed disappointment in Chrisette this morning in a post via Instagram. The School Daze creator said that he had actually considered the artist’s song “Black Girl Magic” featured in his new Net Flix Series “She’s Gotta Have It”. But after these recent events, he’s thrown that idea out the window.
What do y’all think? Do you buy the reason behind her decision? Better yet. Is it even our business that she’s chosen to take this engagement?
It will be interesting to see if Chrisette’s career takes a hit from this choice. How many of you will be watching her do her thing tomorrow?
