Donald Glover Reveals He Suffered a Stroke During 2024 Tour

Donald Glover — also known by his musical moniker Childish Gambino — revealed publicly that he suffered a stroke during his 2024 New World Tour, a medical emergency that ultimately led to the abrupt cancellation of all remaining dates. The revelation came during his appearance at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles.

Onstage Pain Led to Alarming Diagnosis

While performing in Louisiana, Glover said he felt an intense pain in his head and began experiencing problems with his vision. After continuing the show despite the symptoms, he traveled to Houston to get examined. Doctors soon informed him he had suffered a stroke.

Additional Health Issues Complicated Recovery

Glover told fans that the stroke wasn’t the end of his medical challenges. In the months that followed, doctors discovered a hole in his heart, and he ultimately underwent two surgeries to treat the condition. He also suffered a broken foot during the same period.

Glover Reflects on Mortality and Gratitude

During his emotional onstage moment, Glover shared the introspection that followed the health scare. “They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one,” he told the crowd, expressing deep appreciation for continued fan support.

A Tour Cut Short

Glover’s New World Tour was intended to support what he has described as his final Childish Gambino project. After just 18 performances, he canceled the rest of the shows, initially citing only an unspecified “ailment” and a need for recovery time. The true extent of his condition was not disclosed until now.

Fans and Artists Show Support

The revelation immediately prompted an outpouring of support across social media from fans, peers, and collaborators in the entertainment industry. Glover emphasized that the experience has changed his outlook, urging fans to live fully and authentically.
