DJ Jazzy Jeff Says, “I’m Good,” After Being Diagnosed With Pneumonia In Both Lungs
DJ Jazzy Jeff — real name Jeffrey Townes — has been battling a case of pneumonia in both of his lungs and also suspected it could be COVID-19 (coronavirus).
The 55-year old DJ and producer shared in his Instagram stories on Monday, which has now been deleted, that he is recovering. “I lost my sense of smell and taste which is a main sign of the virus.”
Jazz did not confirm he was diagnosed with coronavirus but made sure to alert the public and advise everyone to take this virus seriously.
Jazz rose to fame, alongside his on and off camera best friend Will Smith, in the late 80’s and 90’s. There his “Summertime” and roles on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air put them on the map. Although the duo went their separate ways in their careers, they still remain friends.
On Tuesday the Jazz thanked his fans for the all the well-wishes.
“I’m good, thank God. I posted yesterday to bring awareness to how serious this is…Pls look out for each other,” he wrote in his Instastories, closing out the commentary with a “Thank you!”
He also gave a shoutout to his wife Lynette Jackson, who has been by his side.
“I would NOT be here if not for my guardian angel for a wife! Please take this serious…it does not care who you are…what you do or what your plans are. Stay safe,” he continued.
A few black entertainers have revealed to been hit by the virus, including actor Idris Elba, rappers Scarface and Slim Thug, and NBA star Kevin Durant.
Get well soon, DJ Jazzy Jeff. Praying for a full recovery for all.
