Cory Booker Marries Alexis Lewis After Whirlwind Romance

Cory Booker, the U.S. Senator from New Jersey, has officially tied the knot with Alexis Lewis, a real‑estate investment executive — ending his long‑noted bachelorhood and marking a new chapter both personally and publicly. The couple wed in a series of intimate ceremonies last week.

Two Ceremonies, Two Cities

Booker and Lewis held two wedding events that honored both their histories. The first occurred on November 24 at the U.S. District Court in Newark, New Jersey — a city central to Booker’s political journey and the one he served as mayor before entering the Senate. Their parents witnessed the civil ceremony, which stayed low‑key and personal.

A few days later, on November 29, the couple celebrated again in Washington, D.C., at a private family gathering. That evening’s event was an interfaith ceremony — reflecting Lewis’s Jewish background and Booker’s Christian faith — with both a rabbi and a pastor officiating under a chuppah. The ceremony included thoughtful family tributes, including photos of grandparents and loved ones, and music meaningful to the couple.

In announcing their union on social media, Booker and Lewis said they were “overflowing with gratitude,” noting they said “I do” in “two places that shaped us.”

A Love Story That Blossomed Quickly

According to their own account, Booker and Lewis were introduced by a mutual friend in May 2024. The setup was a blind date when Lewis was visiting family in Washington. Their first date lasted more than five hours — prompting Booker to ask for a second date, even convincing Lewis to delay a flight to make it happen.

They moved in together in April 2025. Their engagement was publicly announced in September 2025, accompanied by a heartfelt Instagram post from Booker, calling Lewis “one of the greatest unearned blessings” of his life. “She has transformed me,” he wrote, praising her impact on his inner life and expressing joy at building a home together.

Lewis, 38, works as a director of investments at a real‑estate firm and previously held a role in economic policy in Los Angeles.

A Personal Milestone — and a Public Moment

For Booker, 56, the wedding closes a long chapter of public speculation over his private life. As a frequently mentioned name in political circles — and a former candidate for president — this marriage represents a significant personal milestone as well as a new public identity as a married man.

In their joint statement, the couple reflected on the significance of their chosen venues — Newark and Washington — underscoring how each city shaped their paths. “Hearts full and so grateful,” they wrote.
