A civil lawsuit filed against R&B superstar Chris Brown has officially been dismissed, just weeks after his arrest in the United Kingdom in connection with the same incident. The accuser, music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw, filed court documents last Friday to drop the suit with prejudice, a legal term that prevents the case from being refiled in the future.
Allegations and Arrest
The case stems from an alleged altercation that occurred at TAPE nightclub in London in February 2023. Diaw accused Brown of striking him in the head with a tequila bottle and continuing to attack him after he lost consciousness. He claimed the assault caused serious physical injuries, including torn ligaments and head trauma, as well as lasting emotional distress.
The incident remained under investigation by British authorities for over a year. In May 2025, Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, while on his “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour. He was later charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, assault causing actual bodily harm, and possession of a weapon. Brown appeared in a London court in June, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released on bail set at approximately $6.7 million.
Civil Case Dismissed
Diaw’s civil suit, filed in Los Angeles County, had sought $16 million in damages. His motion to dismiss the case with prejudice strongly suggests a private settlement was reached, though neither party has publicly confirmed the terms.
Legal experts note that dropping a case with prejudice typically indicates that both parties have agreed to resolve the matter outside of court, potentially through a financial agreement or other terms.
