Cherie Johnson And Soleil Moon Frye Gear Up For ‘Punky Brewster’ Reboot
Cherie Johnson and Soleil Moon Frye have been very excited about this ‘Punky Brewster’ reboot and the old friends have continuously shared their joy on social media.
According to Deadline, the original NBC sitcom will be revamping with Frye reprising her role as Punky Brewster and Johnson coming back as Punky’s best friend. The show has a pilot order for NBCU’s upcoming streaming platform set to launch in April 2020.
The original series, created by David W. Duclon, ran for four seasons from 1984-1988, two on NBC and two in syndication.
‘Punky Brewster’ was an 80s sitcom about a bright young girl raised by a foster dad.
In the reboot, Punky (Frye) is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets a young girl who reminds her a lot of her younger self.
Frye and Johnson have been best friends since they were kids. In fact, they’re more like sisters. To Punky’s kids, she’s Aunt Cherie. Her life-long friendship with Punky inspired her to become a social worker, helping orphaned kids.
Looking forward to seeing this classic come back.
