Chadwick Boseman to Receive Posthumous Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The legacy of the late actor Chadwick Boseman will be immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce prepares to honor him with a posthumous star on November 20, 2025.

Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honor on his behalf during a ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m. PT at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard. The star will be awarded in the Motion Pictures category.

The ceremony will feature tributes from two people who worked closely with Boseman and admired him deeply: director Ryan Coogler, who helmed Black Panther, and actress Viola Davis, who starred alongside Boseman in the acclaimed film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Boseman, who died in 2020 at age 43 after a private four-year battle with colon cancer, became a global icon through his powerful portrayals of trailblazing figures. His breakthrough performances included Jackie Robinson in “42,” James Brown in Get On Up, and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall.

But it was his role as King T’Challa in Marvel’s Black Panther that catapulted him into worldwide stardom. After debuting as the Wakandan king in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Boseman led the record-breaking 2018 Black Panther film and reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Beyond film, he appeared in TV series such as “Lincoln Heights,” “Persons Unknown,” “Justified,” and “Fringe.”

A proud native of Anderson, South Carolina, Boseman graduated from T.L. Hanna High School before earning his degree from Howard University, where he later inspired generations of young artists.

His final film role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom earned him critical acclaim and a posthumous Academy Award nomination, further cementing his place as one of the most influential actors of his time.

As fans gather on November 20, Boseman’s star will serve as a lasting tribute to his artistry, impact, and the profound grace with which he moved through the world.

Don’t forget — Chadwick Boseman will receive his Hollywood Walk of Fame star on November 20, 2025.
