Celebrity Personal Trainer Avoids Jail Time For Killing a Male in a Wreck
Celebrity Trainer, Edward Scott-Bennin, end the life of a Father of three, Tommy McEniry, 28, after he turned right and jumped in front of a set of lights in Chelsea, London. After a 10-month long investigation, sources say Scott-Bennin is avoiding any jail time for his actions. He also admitted to driving without a license and also lied about having insurance. You may recognize some of the celebrity names he have worked with including, “Cliff Curtis of Training day, Captain America’s Derek Luke, Sophia Luke of Spartan, a former Miss Ukraine and many others” according to Metro UK. The victim’s family is obviously furious with the decision of the court and felt as if justice was not served.
Here is more on the story and a statement from the victim’s family below:
After a 10-month investigation, it was found that there was not a green filter light directing the traffic and Scott-Bennin should have been able to see McEniry before crashing into him.
Isleworth Crown Court heard how Scott-Bennin had never got a full driving license and admitted lying to obtain car insurance. His website says he has worked with celebrity clients such as Cliff Curtis of Training day, Captain America’s Derek Luke, Sophia Luke of Spartan, a former Miss Ukraine and many others.
The personal trainer, of Kensington, admitted causing death by dangerous driving and making a false statement to obtain insurance. Judge Robin Johnson gave Scott-Bennin nine months imprisonment suspended for eighteen months. But the decision was met with outrage from the victim’s aunt who shouted: ‘How is the family supposed to cope with this? ‘I am speaking up for my nephew. I hope you can’t live with yourself ‘I hope you have nightmares for the rest of your life.’ McEniry’s wife and mother of his children Jade Coulson, said in an impact statement that he was a devoted father, son, partner, friend, and uncle and she was ‘privileged to spent 12 years’ with ‘such an amazing man’. Cat ‘deliberately’ shot with air gun is ‘lucky to be alive’ She said: ‘With the click of a finger his life was taken away by a man I have no words for. I am just 28 years of age but I walk around with the weight of the world on my shoulders. ‘I wake up most days to my youngest son in a ball asking for his daddy to come back. All we want is justice for Tommy, so I hope it is served correctly.’ Paul Lazarus, defending, claimed the vehicle was ‘attempting to turn slowly’ and that the car did not ‘simply swing’ across the road. He said: ‘He does not pose a risk of re-offending, he is a church going family man with two children. Having spoken to his wife, without the two of them working their finances don’t work.’
When reading out the punishment, Judge Johnson told Scott-Bennin the police report confirmed his decision to turn right caused the incident and there was no obstruction to his view. He said: ‘You were neither licensed to drive without supervision and your insurance had been obtained by fraud. ‘It may be of little comfort to the family that a sentence cannot be a measure of a life.’ Along with the suspended jail sentence, the judge gave Scott-Benin 200 hours unpaid work and to pay £1,500 pounds compensation. He was banned from driving for three years.
