Cash App Founder, Bob Lee, Stabbed To Death In San Fransisco

Cash App founder, Bob Lee, 43, has sadly passed away after being stabbed to death in San Fransisco on Tuesday morning.

This news was confirmed by Josh Goldbard, the CEO of his current employer, MobileCoin.

Officers responded to a stabbing in the 300 block of Main Street in the Rincon Hill neighborhood, according to CBS. Officers found Lee, who was taken to the hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

The San Fransisco Standard released details regarding the stabbing and said that Lee could be heard screaming, “Help! Someone stabbed me!” in the audio of the 911 call he made with his cell phone. He was also seen in surveillance cameras walking down the street injured, where he eventually stopped a car lifting his shirt — apparently to show his wound as he asked for help — before the vehicle drove away, according to SF Standard. Additionally, reports say that Lee continued walking down Main St. until he collapsed near the front door of Portside condo complex.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains active, according to Police.

Bob Lee was notably known for being a technology creative that helped developed the mobile payment service, Cash App. He joined a cryptocurrency and digital payments startup company called MobileCoin in 2021.

Reports say Lee moved to Miami last year but was visiting San Fransisco for a MobileCoin leadership summit. Additionally, they state that the summit took place last week but he decided to stay a few extra days to visit family and friends.

The CEO of MobileCoin released an official statement to CNN stating:

“Our dear friend and colleague, Bob Lee passed away yesterday at the age of 43, survived by a loving family and collection of close friends and collaborators,”. Goldbard continued,  “Bob was a dynamo, a force of nature. Bob was the genuine article. He was made for the world that is being born right now, he was a child of dreams, and whatever he imagined, no matter how crazy, he made real.” “We will miss you, Bob. We love you.”

His father, Rick Lee also released a statement via Facebook honoring his son.

He stated:

“Life has been an adventure with two bachelors living together, and I’m so happy that we were able to become so close these last years.

Bob would give you the shirt off his back.

He would never look down on anyone and adhered to a strict no-judgment philosophy.

Bobby worked harder than anyone and was the smartest person I have ever known. He will be missed by all those that knew him. Thank you to those who have reached out in support“.

Let us keep his family, friends and colleagues in our prayers. We will keep you all updated as more information is released.
