Los Angeles — Authorities have confirmed that human remains discovered in a Tesla registered to singer David Anthony Burke, professionally known as D4vd, belong to 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, in April 2024.

The vehicle, which had been impounded in Hollywood, was reported after workers at the tow yard noticed a strong, unusual odor coming from the car. Upon inspection, police discovered the remains in the Tesla’s front trunk (“frunk”). The body was found in a decomposed condition, and authorities are treating the case as suspicious.
Identification of the victim was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office. According to investigators, distinguishing features including a tattoo on her right index finger and personal items found with the remains matched those of Celeste Rivas.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, with the medical examiner listing it as “deferred” pending further investigation. Authorities have not confirmed any direct connection between the victim and D4vd beyond the vehicle registration, and no charges have been filed at this time.
D4vd, 20, born David Anthony Burke, is reportedly cooperating with law enforcement. The discovery has sparked significant public attention, with missing persons advocates and Celeste’s family calling for a thorough investigation.
The case remains under active investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the vehicle or the disappearance of Celeste Rivas to come forward.
