In heartbreaking news, the culinary world mourns the passing of beloved Food Network star Anne Burrell. She was 55. The family confirmed that Burrell died early Tuesday morning.
“We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef Anne Burrell passed away this morning,” a family representative said. “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent—teaching, competing, and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring.”
According to TMZ, law enforcement sources reported that emergency personnel responded to a call Tuesday morning after Burrell was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home. A rep for the NYC Fire Department states the 911 caller reported that Anne went into cardiac arrest.
Anne’s Background and Career
Born on September 21, 1969, in Cazenovia, New York, Anne was inspired by her mother’s home-cooked meals and the legendary Julia Child. She forged an impressive career as a chef, author, and media personality.
Anne began her Food Network journey in 2005 as a sous chef on Iron Chef America. Over the years, she hosted her own show, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and gained widespread fame as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. She also appeared on popular shows such as Chopped, Food Network Star, and more recently, House of Knives.
