A 23-year-old mother is dead and her 8-month-old daughter remains in critical condition after the pair fell from a 15th-floor balcony at a Bronx apartment building early Tuesday morning.
The victim has been identified as Nathaly Ramirez, who was found with her infant daughter shortly after 3:30 a.m. outside the Allerville Arms apartment complex at 2550 Olinville Avenue in the Allerton section of the Bronx.
According to the NYPD, both victims suffered injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position. Ramirez was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her baby survived the fall and remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition, according to authorities.
Investigators are treating Ramirez’s death as a homicide and believe the mother and her baby were pushed from the balcony. Police are searching for Ramirez’s boyfriend or former boyfriend in connection with the investigation. His identity has not been publicly released, and no arrest had been announced as of Wednesday.
The heartbreaking incident unfolded after neighbors reportedly heard a woman screaming before the fall. One witness told local media she heard a woman pleading, “Please don’t do this! That’s my baby!” before seeing something fall from the building.
Sources also told local news outlets that there had reportedly been a history of domestic violence at the residence, with police previously responding to the apartment. Investigators are examining those prior incidents as they work to determine exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the fall.

Ramirez was remembered by neighbors as a kind, calm and cheerful young mother who was often seen with her daughter. She was also a psychology student at Baruch College.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to locate and question the man believed to be connected to the incident. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage and witness accounts as they piece together what happened.
For now, the Bronx community is mourning the loss of a young mother while praying for the survival of her infant daughter.
Y’all Know What family sends our deepest condolences to Nathaly Ramirez’s loved ones and continued prayers for her baby daughter. May God cover this precious child and give her strength to fight through this difficult time.
This is a developing story, and additional details may be released as the investigation continues.
