TLC’s T-Boz Drops Out of Upcoming Shows Following Medical Emergency

TLC’s Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins is stepping away from the stage as she recovers from a medical emergency that recently landed her in the hospital.

The legendary singer, 56, has temporarily withdrawn from performances on TLC’s “It’s Iconic” tour after experiencing a sickle cell crisis, according to a statement from her representative. Watkins is currently recovering and working to regain her strength.

During a recent performance, TLC’s Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas took the stage without her longtime groupmate and addressed the audience, asking fans to continue supporting T-Boz while she focuses on her health.

Watkins’ representative confirmed that the singer’s medical emergency required hospitalization.

“Tionne recently experienced a sickle cell crisis that required hospitalization, and she is currently recovering and regaining her strength,” the representative said in a statement.

Because of the interactive nature of the “It’s Iconic” tour, the decision was made for Chilli to continue performing while receiving support from fellow performers Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue, as well as the fans.

The response from concertgoers has reportedly been filled with love and support for T-Boz, with audiences singing along to her parts and offering prayers for her recovery.

“Sickle cell is a serious illness,” her representative said, asking fans to continue keeping Watkins in their prayers as she recuperates.

T-Boz has been open about living with sickle cell disease since childhood and has faced several serious health challenges throughout her life. Her latest health scare comes two years after TLC was forced to cancel performances in 2024 after Watkins was hospitalized with a severe abdominal blockage. Doctors determined at the time that the condition was not food poisoning and advised her to remain hospitalized for further evaluation.

Despite her latest setback, TLC’s tour is continuing, with Chilli carrying on with the performances while fans rally around T-Boz.

We’re wishing T-Boz a safe and speedy recovery and sending continued prayers and love her way. ❤️🙏🏽

Get well soon, T-Boz!
