Former NBA champion Derek Fisher and reality television personality Gloria Govan have reportedly separated after five years of marriage, though the couple is not planning to file for divorce at this time.
According to TMZ Sports, a representative for the couple confirmed that Fisher and Govan have been living separately and leading separate lives while continuing to communicate as they work through challenges in their relationship. Sources close to the pair say they have built a strong family together and remain committed to staying in contact despite their separation.
The couple began dating in 2015 and got engaged in April 2018. They exchanged vows in July 2021 during a picturesque ceremony at Cielo Farms in Malibu after postponing their original 2020 wedding because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was the second marriage for both Fisher and Govan. Govan was previously married to former NBA player Matt Barnes, with whom she shares twin sons. Fisher was previously married to Candace Fisher, and they share four children together.
While the couple is currently living apart, reports indicate they are not heading to divorce court and are instead focused on working through their issues. Neither Fisher nor Govan has publicly commented beyond the statement released through their representative.
