A South Carolina family is demanding answers after newly released surveillance video appeared to show an armed suspect targeting their Rock Hill home hours before a 19-year-old woman was fatally shot outside the residence.
According to WBTV, doorbell camera footage captured a man allegedly identified as 34-year-old Sean Hubbard approaching the home on Mount Gallant Road with a shotgun concealed under a dark covering before firing into the front door earlier in the day on May 16. Family members said no one was injured during that initial shooting.
Authorities said Hubbard later returned to the home Saturday night, where 19-year-old Camariya Tidwell was found suffering from a gunshot wound outside the residence around 11 p.m. She later died from her injuries.
The victim’s family told WBTV they believe the home had been deliberately targeted for days. Relatives said another shooting at the property earlier that week prompted them to install security cameras, which ultimately captured the suspect on video.
Investigators charged Hubbard with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and discharging firearms into a dwelling, according to court records cited by WBTV. Police have not publicly detailed a motive, though family members reportedly said the suspect had previously been connected to someone at the home through car repair work.
Tidwell’s mother said she believes more could have been done to protect the family after earlier incidents involving gunfire at the home. Visible bullet holes remained throughout the house as relatives mourned the teenager’s death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
