Legendary Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler is reportedly in serious but stable condition after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal.
According to reports, the 74-year-old music icon suffered complications after her appendix burst last week, leading doctors to perform emergency surgery at a hospital near her home in Faro, Portugal. Tyler was reportedly placed in a medically induced coma as part of her recovery process.
Representatives for the “Total Eclipse of the Heart” singer released a statement on Tuesday, May 12, reassuring fans that doctors remain optimistic about her condition and believe she is expected to make a full recovery despite the severity of the medical emergency.
A close friend, Liberto Mealha, told British media outlets that Tyler first began feeling ill during a concert appearance in London. Initial medical tests reportedly failed to detect any major issues before she returned home to Portugal, where she later experienced severe abdominal pain that led to emergency treatment.
Tyler’s team also pushed back against what they described as “lurid and untrue rumours” circulating online regarding her health. Representatives stated that certain individuals speaking publicly about the singer “do not represent” Tyler or her family and are not directly involved in her medical updates.
