Comedy icon Dave Chappelle is set to open the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Fest with a highly anticipated three-night residency, marking one of the marquee events of the annual comedy celebration.
Dubbed “Dave Chappelle: Pulling Up,” the exclusive run will take place May 7–9 at the Hollywood Palladium, officially launching the festival’s multi-day lineup of stand-up performances, live shows, and special events across Los Angeles.
The residency is expected to deliver a unique, immersive experience for fans. Organizers have confirmed that all attendees will be required to secure their phones and smart devices in locked pouches during the performances, a move designed to create a distraction-free environment and preserve the intimacy of Chappelle’s set.
The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic-style promotional trailer narrated by Morgan Freeman, signaling the high-profile nature of the event and its role as a major kickoff moment for the festival.
Chappelle’s return to the Netflix-backed festival is particularly notable, as it marks his first appearance since the 2022 event, where he made headlines following an onstage incident involving an audience member.
The three-night run also continues Chappelle’s long-standing partnership with Netflix, which has produced multiple award-winning comedy specials for the comedian. His recent work, including specials like The Dreamer, has earned critical acclaim and major accolades, further cementing his legacy as one of the most influential voices in stand-up comedy.
The 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Fest, scheduled to run from May 4 through May 10, will feature hundreds of performers across the city, with names like Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, and Katt Williams also slated to appear.
Tickets for Chappelle’s residency went on sale in late April, with strong demand expected as fans prepare for one of the festival’s most talked-about opening acts.
As Netflix continues to expand its footprint in live comedy, Chappelle’s headlining residency underscores the platform’s commitment to delivering must-see cultural moments—starting with a powerful opening act from one of comedy’s most enduring stars.
