Gospel Artist Marvin Sapp Announces Engagement to Dr. La’Boris Cole

Award-winning gospel artist, pastor, and author Marvin Sapp has officially announced his engagement to Dr. La’Boris Cole, marking a joyful new chapter in his personal life after more than a decade as a widower.

The beloved singer, best known for his crossover anthem “Never Would Have Made It,” shared the exciting news on February 23, 2026. The engagement took place during what appeared to be a birthday celebration, secretly organized by his adult children. During the gathering, Sapp surprised Cole by getting down on one knee and presenting her with a diamond engagement ring, surrounded by family and loved ones.

A Love Story Years in the Making

Sapp and Cole’s relationship was built on a strong foundation of friendship. The two had known each other for more than 10 years before their connection developed into a romantic relationship. They chose to keep their courtship private until they were certain about their future together.

Dr. La’Boris Cole is a respected clinician, ministry leader, and founder of the Born 2 Danz Worship Arts Conference. She also serves as CEO of Cole Associates & Counselors of Texas, a behavioral health organization focused on counseling and mental health services.

A New Chapter After Loss

The engagement carries special meaning for Sapp, whose first wife, Dr. MaLinda Prince Sapp, passed away in 2010 after battling colon cancer. Following her death, Sapp devoted himself to raising their three children and continuing his ministry and music career.

After 16 years of faith, healing, and family, Sapp’s engagement represents what many supporters see as a powerful testimony of love and restoration. In announcing the news, his family described the moment as the fulfillment of long-held prayers and hopes.

Continuing His Legacy in Music and Ministry

Marvin Sapp remains one of gospel music’s most influential voices, with a career spanning more than three decades. In addition to his music success, he serves as senior pastor of The Chosen Vessel Church in Fort Worth, Texas, and continues to inspire audiences through preaching, writing, and ministry leadership.

The couple has not yet announced a wedding date, but fans and members of the gospel community have already begun celebrating the news, offering congratulations and prayers for their future together.
