Friends and supporters of runway legend Miss J Alexander have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the longtime America’s Next Top Model judge cover the escalating costs of his medical care following a severe stroke suffered in late 2022.
The fundraiser, started on February 20 by close friend and talent manager Steven Grossman, seeks to raise $100,000 to support Miss J’s ongoing recovery, including specialized treatments, rehabilitation services, and daily living support, organizers said.
Miss J — who became a cultural icon for his vibrant personality and expert guidance on the hit reality series — suffered a debilitating stroke on December 27, 2022, according to the campaign description. The health crisis left him unresponsive and in a coma for weeks, and initially unable to walk or speak.
After nearly 18 months in rehabilitation, Miss J has continued to fight to regain independence but now faces ongoing challenges. The GoFundMe notes that he remains confined to a wheelchair, with limited movement in his right arm, and requires round-the-clock care along with physical, speech, and occupational therapies.
In a message on the fundraising page, his friends wrote that Miss J has shown “incredible strength and resilience,” but that the cost of long-term care and specialized support has become “overwhelming.” Contributions will go toward rehabilitation, in-home care, medical expenses, and essential living costs associated with his recovery.
The campaign also appeals to fans and admirers of Miss J’s enduring contributions to fashion and television. “If Miss J.’s kindness, humor, and iconic presence have ever made you smile or laugh, please consider giving back during this difficult time,” the description reads. Supporters unable to donate are encouraged to share the fundraiser within their communities.
The GoFundMe is in its early stages, but several donations have already been made toward its goal.
Miss J’s stroke and recovery were recently featured in the Netflix documentary Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, which brought renewed attention to his health struggles.
