WNBA standout Angel Reese is officially expanding her Hollywood footprint. The Chicago Sky forward has joined the cast of Netflix’s hit murder mystery The Hunting Wives for its highly anticipated second season, where she will co-star as Trainer Barbie.
Reese’s casting marks another milestone in her growing acting résumé as production gets underway on Season 2. The series, which became a breakout streaming success following its 2025 debut, is adding fresh faces while retaining its core cast—signaling an even bigger and bolder next chapter.
The WNBA star confirmed the news on social media, sharing behind-the-scenes photos from set and giving fans an early glimpse of her latest creative venture. Netflix later made the announcement official, cementing Reese’s role in the upcoming season.
Based on the novel by May Cobb, The Hunting Wives centers on Sophie O’Neill, a bored Chicago transplant who relocates to a small Texas town and becomes enthralled by the magnetic Margot Banks and her circle of wealthy, rebellious wives. Their glamorous world of late-night skeet shooting and secretive partying soon gives way to dark and dangerous consequences.
Reese’s turn on The Hunting Wives is the second major acting project announced for her in recent weeks. On January 14, the Stephen Curry-produced animated film GOAT revealed that Reese and Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson will make cameo appearances. In the film, Reese voices a polar bear named Propp, while Wilson plays a reptile named Kouyate. GOAT marks Reese’s second movie role following her 2025 debut in the Netflix thriller A House of Dynamite, where she appeared as herself in a scene opposite Idris Elba.
Beyond film and television, Reese has also appeared in music videos for NLE Choppa and Latto, continuing to build a multifaceted entertainment career alongside her dominance on the court.
A basketball phenom, Reese transferred to LSU during her junior season and earned unanimous first-team All-American honors. She is a two-time WNBA All-Star known for her record-breaking rebounding. Selected seventh overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Reese went on to set the league’s single-season rebounding record during her rookie campaign.
The Hunting Wives Season 2 will stream on Netflix. As of January 2026, production is underway, with a release date still to be announced.
