This story makes my heart cry. If you guys grew up loving Sister Sledge, then you know my pain. One of the sisters of the group, Joni Sledge, was found deceased at her Phoenix home by a friend. She was only 60 years old, and the second oldest of the girls. No cause of death has yet to be determined.

Here’s more from a family  representative of Sister Sledge.

“Yesterday (Friday) numbness fell upon our family. We are saddened to inform you that our dear sister, mother, aunt and cousin, Joni passed away yesterday. Please pray for us as we weep for this loss. We do know that she is now eternally with Our Lord,” 

Aint this a horrible story to wake up to on a Sunday morning? I just hope that Joni, Kathy, Debbie, were able to bury the hatchet before Joni closed her eyes. The  famous siblings have been bickering for years and years because of lead singer Kathy’s decision to leave the group as a solo artist. A couple of years ago, Kathy was not allowed to perform with the group when they sang for the new Pope. In recent interviews, Kathy had said that she no longer communicate with her sisters and doesn’t even spend time with them on holidays.

Kathy posted an Instagram message four days ago that may have foreseen what she would be going through soon.

Ain’t that eerie. Let’s pray for Kathy, her only child Thaddeus, her sisters, and the entire Sledge for strength and love toward each other.

Hopefully the remaining sisters will be able to bury the hatchet sooner than later. Life is too darn short!

But for now, let’s celebrate our girl Joni in one of the most beloved songs of all time. Here’s WE ARE FAMILY!
