This is a truly devastating story. America’s most beloved Pastor, Bishop Joel Osteen, is not at happy camper right now. According to The Christian Post, $600,000 was stolen from a safe at The Lakewood Church in Houston.
Now investigators are saying that this act was more than likely carried out by an “inside” person like a church employee, usher or deacon that collected the offering that weekend.
A representative of the church released THIS statement about the tragic event.
“We were heartbroken to learn today that funds were stolen from the church over the weekend. This includes cash, checks and envelopes containing written credit card information, and it is limited only to those funds contributed in the church services on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, 2014.”

It takes a lot of nerve to steal from the house of the Lord. And to learn that a deacon or a trustee committed the act, its even MORE despicable. There’s many questions that come to mind while reading this story. Number one, were there any cameras that captured the crime? There’s video recorders EVERY where these days. If you’re bringing in $600,000 per weekend, there should be a state of the ART security system. This brings me to my final point. WHY OH WHY would you keep over a half a million dollars at your church?? As soon as the offerings and donations are collected for that particular weekend, SOMEBODY needs to be making their way to the bank. Bishop Osteen has over 43,000 members on his church roll. With a following like that, you can never be too careful.
So do y’all wanna take a while guess of who “might” have taken the money? Ok…ok…I’ll go first! Of course this was an inside job because the culprit knew the safe combination. I don’t think it was an usher, but maybe a trustee or a deacon.
